Mahanandi(మహానంది)
Mahanandi is a beautiful place, positioned at the periphery of Nallamala Forest. This pilgrim centre has an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. Inside the temple complex, there is a pool that incessantly gets water from the natural springs. Its fresh and pure water is also regarded as the eraser of sins.
Mahanandi receives many tourists due its natural beauty and serene surroundings.
How to reach :
Mahanandi is about 16 km from Nandyal. The nearest airport is at Hyderabad, which is about 219 km from Kurnool and the nearest railway station is at Nandyal.
What to see :
A noted pilgrimage centre, Mahanandi is surrounded by dense forests and is famous for the Mahanandishwara temple that dates back to the 7th century AD. The remarkable feature here is the crystal clear water, which flows throughout the year from the perennial springs.
Other places of interest are Pushkarini, a pond with water so clear and pure that even a pin at the bottom can be seen, Kodanda Ramalayam, and the Kameswari Devi temple.
