లేపాక్షి Lepakshi, Near Hindupuram town, Ananthapuram
It is the most important place from the historical and archaeological point of view.
I visited this great temple twice in 1999 and 2005. It takes more than two times visit to observe most of the things in this temple.
photos below are just some portions of the actual temple, there are plenty of art and paintings which partially captured.
away from the routine multiple-destination tourist routes.
The place is renowned as the repository of the best mural paintings of the Vijayanagar Kings.
The temple of Veerabhadra is mention in 'Skandapuranam' as one of the hundred and eight important 'Shaiva Kshetras'. Legend has it that the temple of Veerabhadra was constructed by Saint 'Agastya' himself, but in it was developed into the present exquisite shrine by 'Virupanna', the treasurer of the Vijayanagar Kings.
